It seems fitting that Japanese artist Ritsue Mishima’s Medea sculpture cum vase is named after one of the great sorceresses of antiquity. Fabricated in Murano, the piece casts a dazzling spell of light and form, like an otherworldly talisman from, say, a moon of Krypton.
Medea is currently weaving her magic in All That Is Solid, an exhibition of Mishima’s work that runs through January 31 at San Francisco’s Hedge Gallery. 501 Pacific Ave., 415-433-2233, hedgegallery.com —Mayer Rus
