What happened to Raquel Welch? , Lucy Liu, Gretchen Mol, Diane Lane and many others if you dump several which are over rated
Posted by: Karl Vandervoort | 02/04/2011 at 10:39 PM
Some who you've forgotten: Raquel Welch, Scarlett Johannson, Veronica Lake,
Posted by: DL | 02/05/2011 at 12:10 AM
I voted for Anne Hathaway, however, I would have voted for Kate Beckinsale if she was on the list. She was hot in the Underworld movies, and beautiful in Pearl Harbor.
The others I would have liked to see on the list include: Juliette Lewis, Linda Hamilton, & Diane Keaton.
Posted by: Damian | 02/05/2011 at 12:35 AM
Did I miss Lauren Bacall, the most beautiful, sensuous actress ever? How could you leave her out?
Posted by: Don | 02/05/2011 at 04:44 AM
This is quite possibly the worst compilation I have ever seen. Good job.
Posted by: Leavesofval | 02/05/2011 at 09:04 AM
Nastassia Kinski?
Isabella Rosselini?
Posted by: Eye Spy | 02/05/2011 at 01:24 PM
No Lauren Bacall, the most stunning, sensuous actress ever? Bacall is all class and has the entire list topped.
Posted by: Don | 02/05/2011 at 05:06 PM
You missed Siobhan D'Antonio
Posted by: Shelia D'Antonio | 02/05/2011 at 06:22 PM
What about Gwyneth Paltrow?
Posted by: Rachel | 02/05/2011 at 11:38 PM
You missed placing Raquel Welch on the list. An amazing beauty in the world of cinema.
Posted by: Sam | 02/06/2011 at 01:16 AM
I vote for Ingrid Bergman
Posted by: Steve Saunders | 02/06/2011 at 05:30 AM
Marilyn Monroe, yes, but I cannot believe you left out Sharon Tate. Gorgeous.
Posted by: Elisabeth | 02/06/2011 at 07:12 AM
You should have selected Ingrid Bergman. Watch Casablanca sometime.
Posted by: JB Richner | 02/06/2011 at 08:07 AM
How could you forget Ingrid Bergman and her daughter Isabella Rossellini.
Posted by: Dr Greg | 02/06/2011 at 08:15 AM
Failing to include Ingrid
Bergman invalidates your entire poll.
Posted by: Gordon Cohn | 02/06/2011 at 08:45 AM
Really you don't have Meryl Streep? Really? You chose Blake Lively of Gossip Girl and left off Meryl Streep! Really?
And Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce, while beautiful - women of film? And you left off Meryl Streep? What in the hell is wrong with you? She is a great actress and a classic beauty. Are you like 15 years old or something? Not enough Oscar nominations for you? Yikes!
Posted by: tcaugust | 02/06/2011 at 09:17 AM
Have to agree with other comments: Ingrid Bergman - a classic beauty, Lauren Bacall and Raquel Welch. All classic.
They have all done a lot more films than Blake Lively. that one totally shocked me. What were you thinking?
Posted by: tcaugust | 02/06/2011 at 09:21 AM
I think you forgot Milla Jovovich. But overlooking Lauren Bacall and Ingrid Bergman is unforgiveable.
Posted by: tim burke | 02/06/2011 at 10:21 AM
What about Ann Margaret?
Posted by: John S | 02/06/2011 at 10:27 AM
Cybil Shepherd stunningly beautiful in The Last Picture Show and Taxidriver has to be included.
Posted by: Ralph Sims | 02/06/2011 at 10:45 AM
Julia Roberts is a dog...
Posted by: sonny | 02/06/2011 at 12:56 PM
Lana Turner is my fave. I dont agree with Bergman deserving to be on the list
Posted by: dash | 02/06/2011 at 01:11 PM
I agree with all other comments and you forgot Sandra Bullock, I vote for her....
Posted by: DLB | 02/06/2011 at 01:14 PM
Star, actress and beauty: Myrna Loy. Her statue still stands at Venice High.
Posted by: Kingdom Venice | 02/06/2011 at 03:20 PM
Jennifer O'Neil was not only beautiful on the outside, but conveyed an inner beauty as well.
Posted by: John Hofstetter | 02/06/2011 at 03:32 PM
No Ingrid Bergman...no Raquel Welch...are you brain dead?
Posted by: Bart | 02/06/2011 at 06:50 PM
I'm stunned that you would leave out Ingrid Bergman!
Posted by: Teresa | 02/06/2011 at 07:55 PM
Bo Derek
Ursula Andress
Linda Evans
Raquel Welch
Posted by: Terry | 02/06/2011 at 08:19 PM
Your "50 Most Beautiful Women in Film" is an absolute joke without Ingrid Bergman.
Posted by: vanessa | 02/06/2011 at 08:28 PM
BARBARA HERSHEY. You omitted Barbara Hershey? She's been in the business since she was a teen. She exudes such sensuality, intelligence and immerses herself in every character. She is not only beautiful but a true actor. Blake who?
Posted by: Paul | 02/06/2011 at 10:28 PM
Where are Lena horne and Katharine Hepburn? Also what the heck are Beyonce and Blake Lively doing there at all? Not only is this list disappointing but the order is even insulting to some listed.
Posted by: mila | 02/06/2011 at 11:13 PM
Marlene Dietrich, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Anna May Wong have been overlooked. These women were considered the great beauties of their time.
Posted by: Dawn Darfus | 02/07/2011 at 12:48 AM
Marie Dressler? Marjorie Main? Alice Pearce? Sara Haden?
Posted by: Steve | 02/07/2011 at 06:23 AM
My dad once said a close-up of Linda Darnell changed his whole life.
Posted by: Anne Papineau | 02/07/2011 at 08:05 AM
I disagree with your list for two reasons: there are women on it who are beautiful but not well known as film actresses and others who are cute or pretty but not beautiful.
In the not beautiful category, imo: Ali McGraw, Julia Roberts, Kim Basinger, Farrah Fawcett, Jennifer Lopez (also not rlly much of a film star).
Not a film star: Beyonce, Farrah, Blake Lively, Brooke Shields, Jennifer Lopez.
If you took these women off the list, you'd have room for true beauties who were/are really film starts: Ingrid Bergman; Isabella Rosselini; Meryl Streep; Raquel Welch; Ann Margret.
Posted by: Donna | 02/07/2011 at 08:55 AM
I guess you can't be of Asian or pure Afrikan descent to be considered "beautiful". The sisters on here are mixed or light-skinned. What a sad commentary on our society in 2011. Anna May Wong or Angela Bassett don't count?
Posted by: ColoredSister | 02/07/2011 at 08:58 AM
You include people who've been "names" for five minutes, but no mention of Lena Horne?
Posted by: Sam | 02/07/2011 at 09:18 AM
Stunning Gene Tierney @ 46...That is plaine Wrong..
Blake plainface Lively above Liz Taylor, Gene, And Dorothy Dandridge
Where is the beautiful Jaclyn Smith, she did some films..
This list sucks
Posted by: Cammie | 02/07/2011 at 10:08 AM
This list is ridiculous. SO Many gorgeous women have been left out.
Aishwarya Rai, and Lena Horne were all left out.
How is Angelina Jolie NOT in the top 10?
Where are all the actress of African & Asian decent?
Beyonce isnt even a film star. She's beautiful but she's a singer 1st. And Blake Lively? SMH
Posted by: Michelle Roberts | 02/07/2011 at 10:59 AM
"In the not beautiful category, imo: Ali McGraw, Julia Roberts, Kim Basinger, Farrah Fawcett, Jennifer Lopez (also not rlly much of a film star)."
I think Jennifer Lopez is beautiful or was in her prime but I agree about the rest. There are all pretty women but not quite what I'd call beautiful.
Posted by: Kat | 02/07/2011 at 11:48 AM
Myrna Loy and Ingrid Bergman are conspicuous omissions, but really I had to choose between Penelope Cruz and Grace Kelly, after limiting myself to consideration of only the clips posted here. It seems wrong to choose either, but I voted for Penelope Cruz.
Posted by: cinemaphile | 02/07/2011 at 11:48 AM
Scarlet Johannsen
Daphne Seyrig (Marienbad)
Ingrid Bergman
I voted for Jean Seberg. She's great in the clip you attached and also in Breathless
Posted by: JohnRead | 02/07/2011 at 12:31 PM
I thought you should have included Connie Nielsen in the 50
Posted by: Robert Ferrone | 02/07/2011 at 12:58 PM
Vivien Leigh.No contest!!
Posted by: britboy | 02/07/2011 at 01:05 PM
Cate Blanchett!!!!
Posted by: Yvonne | 02/07/2011 at 02:34 PM
what idiot put this list together? no ingrid bergman? you got brooke shields and not ingrid bergman?
Posted by: jamesschuck | 02/07/2011 at 03:09 PM
You could've given two slots for two beautiful women of Asian/African descent if those two joke inserts--Blake Lively (lol) and JLo--had been rightfully absent from your ridiculous list.
And the stunning Vivien Leigh and Elizabeth Taylor should've been top ten.
Posted by: lily | 02/07/2011 at 03:12 PM
oh, and before I forget, anglina jolie should not be mentioned in the same breath, much less be on the same page, as grace kelly.
Posted by: jamesschuck | 02/07/2011 at 03:13 PM
Rossella Falk. Watch her in Fellini 8 1/2 and Modesty Blaise.
Posted by: E. Fox | 02/07/2011 at 05:49 PM
Liv Tyler. How on earth could you possibly leave her out?
Posted by: Rick | 02/07/2011 at 06:41 PM
Jennifer lopez has had 8 box office number ones. Of course she should be on the list.
Posted by: Debbie | 02/07/2011 at 07:47 PM
Michelle Pfeiffer at #37, are you fucking kidding?
Posted by: js | 02/07/2011 at 07:55 PM
I agree that I.Adjani is #1 on a league of her own! I would have put M. Bellucci as #2 and shown scenes from the movie Malena. Remove Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, and Farrah Fawcett as they're just average looking. Blake Lively and Beyonce are beautiful but not a star. Add Lois Chiles (she looked stunning in Great Gatsby!), Marlene Dietrich, Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall, Nastassia Kinski, Ursula Andress, Marion Cotillard.
Posted by: women | 02/07/2011 at 07:56 PM
Ingrid Bergman - Casablanca
Posted by: A W Cox | 02/07/2011 at 08:22 PM
Isabel Huppert
Posted by: BZ | 02/07/2011 at 08:23 PM
2-7-11
8:21 pm
How could you have forgotten Jacqueline Bissett? A natural beauty.
Posted by: Sammy Jo | 02/07/2011 at 08:23 PM
Too hard to choose! We need to be able to vote for one beauty per decade at least. Women I would nominate for inclusion are Ingmar Bergman and Kate Winslet
Posted by: Carol S | 02/07/2011 at 08:23 PM
What happened to Lauren Bacall, Julianne Moore, Bette Davis, Rachel Ward, Linda Evans, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd, Cameron Diaz and Jessica Lange???
Posted by: W Steven Chou | 02/07/2011 at 08:25 PM
Looks like Jollie and Julia Roberts are far from beautiful. Their appeal and looks are a passing fad...like Twiggy or Katherine Ross.
And, Wood belongs at the top.
Posted by: BZ | 02/07/2011 at 08:27 PM
Julie Christie
Ingrid Bergman
Marilyn Monroe
probably my top three
film goddesses
Posted by: happy ziggy | 02/07/2011 at 08:35 PM
oops, can not forget Olivia de Haviland!
Posted by: happy ziggy | 02/07/2011 at 08:36 PM
What about Ursula Andress!
Posted by: Kohh | 02/07/2011 at 08:36 PM
Anna Karina?
Posted by: anno | 02/07/2011 at 08:40 PM
hahaha this is a joke
Posted by: durren | 02/07/2011 at 08:43 PM
No Racquel Welch, Ingrid Bergman, Barbara Stanwick or even Lauren Bacall ... yet you have Anne Hathaway?
Who put this together, a 16 year old? Come on. Are you people outside your mind? Not saying modern actresses are hot (Angelina, Charlize, etc.). But good grief. Welch alone is one of the greatest sex icons of the last 50 years!
Posted by: YoungMan | 02/07/2011 at 08:44 PM
Cybill Shepherd - Taxi Driver
Posted by: Antonio | 02/07/2011 at 09:05 PM
Marilyn Chambers.
Posted by: Aubrey | 02/07/2011 at 09:17 PM
Ann-Margret!
Posted by: John Harris | 02/07/2011 at 09:20 PM
Donna Reed?
Posted by: jimbo | 02/07/2011 at 09:32 PM
Jacqueline Bisset
Candice Bergen
Posted by: Sandy | 02/07/2011 at 09:39 PM
In addition to leaving out Aishwarya Rai you didn't include Gong Li.
Your poor list invalidates the poll.
Posted by: KB | 02/07/2011 at 09:39 PM
You didn't have Faye Dunaway, Natalie Wood, or Lee Remick in your top 10. Therefore, your list blows. The only one you did have in the top 10 who belongs there is Julie Christie.
Kim Basinger? You stupid philistines.
Posted by: Lou Bricano | 02/07/2011 at 09:50 PM
Thank goodness Jennifer Aniston was kept out of the list... Bravo!
Posted by: Five Libra | 02/07/2011 at 10:06 PM
Deanna Durbin deserves a spot, too.
Posted by: Ron | 02/07/2011 at 10:07 PM
You have left off the fairest of them all-Jean Simmons.
Posted by: Dennis Gilliam | 02/07/2011 at 10:15 PM
Bo Derek and Karen Allen.
Posted by: Diane | 02/07/2011 at 10:19 PM
Yes, Kim Bassinger, but then you must include Veronica Lake. And how about Juliette Binoche, Raquel Welch, Myrna Loy?
Posted by: AZ reader | 02/07/2011 at 10:25 PM
This listing is lacking some Stars from Non-Western countries. Gong Li, anyone? Maggie Cheug? Shang Zi Yi? There is world of wonderful cinema from the east, that this list fails to acknowledge.
Posted by: John | 02/07/2011 at 10:33 PM
If you have missed:
Winona Ryder...
Then you have kinda pooched it.
Posted by: Patrick J. Michalek | 02/07/2011 at 10:37 PM
Jean Arthur
Posted by: Armando | 02/07/2011 at 10:44 PM
LAUREN BACALL you dummies
Posted by: dawnmariedevine | 02/07/2011 at 10:47 PM
Gina Lollobrigida was often considered Liz's only serious rival for world's most beautiful brunette. She should be on the list, in whatever that film was where she ran around on the beach. That changed my life.
Posted by: zMac112 | 02/07/2011 at 10:49 PM
The editor of this story must have used Wikipedia for his or her research. How could you ever leave Lena Horne, Juliette Binoche or Vanessa Williams off of this list?
Posted by: Jay Allen | 02/07/2011 at 10:59 PM
Well I think this whole thing is silly...can you really pick one as the most beautiful? Yes, there are some I don't think are beautiful but please, pick one?...That is the wonderful thing about woman's beauty it comes in so many different forms...,why pick one we could celebrate them all?,
And you did really blew it by not adding any beautiful asian or black actresses, as if they are hard to find!
Posted by: Josie Bohling | 02/07/2011 at 11:00 PM
Nicole Kidman is 26? You've GOT to be kidding me. She's below Anne Hathaway and Beyonce- in what world does that seem right? And where, dare I ask, are Helen Mirren and Kate Beckinsale? Both timeless beauties, neither apparently warranting a nomination. That's a true shame.
Posted by: Britt | 02/07/2011 at 11:07 PM
I was thinking Julianne Moore & Winona Ryder...reading the other comments I totally agree Ann-Marget needs to be on there. I agree Blake Lively and maybe Farrah don't qualify as film stars, but J-Lo definitely does (btw show a clip from Out of Sight to see her at her best)
Posted by: nomadius | 02/07/2011 at 11:12 PM
The comment rules say "If you are under 13 years of age you may read this message board, but you may not participate."
Apparently those rules don't apply to the Times' staff that assembled this list.
Jennifer Connelly is more beautiful than Catherine Deneuve? Ingrid Bergman doesn't belong on the list?
The creator(s) of this list is(are) stuck in a pubescent "Labyrinth." Getting older is not the same as growing up.
Posted by: cp | 02/07/2011 at 11:16 PM
Loretta Young was a great beauty. The studio chiefs thought she was the only actress they had whose face could hold it's own in scenes with Tyrone Power, no less. The Ingrid Bergman omission is ridiculous.
Posted by: Mary | 02/07/2011 at 11:23 PM
Madeleine Carroll, Virginia Mayo, Ingrid Bergman, Nicole Kidman, Cybil Shepherd. Angelina Jolie is Ugly.
Posted by: Wolfy | 02/07/2011 at 11:32 PM
Cameron Diaz and Jane Fonda
Posted by: A Smith | 02/07/2011 at 11:37 PM
Incredible. This is such an ethnocentric list. Primarily white women. You seem to forget tons of films are made outside of the United States and Europe.
Posted by: Kay | 02/07/2011 at 11:49 PM
Not one asian? How about Li Gong or Zhang Ziyi? Great actresses too. You need to delete Blake Lively.
Posted by: Dismayed | 02/08/2011 at 12:09 AM
Who made this list????
Ahahahahah
Posted by: Ming Tzu | 02/08/2011 at 12:12 AM
Don't think the list is complete without Myrna Loy and Jean Harlow.
Posted by: Brian | 02/08/2011 at 01:05 AM
Dolores del Rio!! But props for Louise Brooks...
Posted by: Amanda | 02/08/2011 at 01:07 AM
Elizabeth Montgomery.
Posted by: Richardmaui@gmail.com | 02/08/2011 at 01:18 AM
How about Sheila Frazier of Superfly fame
Posted by: MasterG | 02/08/2011 at 02:06 AM
Where is Rita Hyworth (Gilda, 1946) ??
Posted by: i am shocked! | 02/08/2011 at 02:35 AM
No Ingrid , or Bette, or Raquel, or Merle, or Lauren .... This list is women of film? Who put this list together anyhow? One would think at least Ms. Welch-- who was famous only for her beauty on film and nothing else would at least have made your list. Instead, Beyonce???
Whatever.
Posted by: mege | 02/08/2011 at 02:50 AM
Anita Ekberg. The fountain scene in La Dolce Vita is one of the most iconic in cinematic history.
Posted by: walter | 02/08/2011 at 03:10 AM
