Why should you care if your tequila is organic? Well, an agave plant, from which tequila is made, can take up to 10 years to mature, so according to La Quemada, the distiller of 4 Copas, less conscientious growers use a chemical stew for their plants that includes growth hormones, herbicides, fungicides and pesticides. The only USDA certified-organic tequila, 4 Copas is a product of eco-friendly practices, such as using recycled mulch.
